The descriptions provided are not exhaustive and are not meant to be exhaustive and do not attempt to cover all models from the providers or all possible setup scenarios that may be relevant to your goals or particular needs.

List of Procedures


Configuring Zebra DS9208 Scanners Using a Configuration File


Use a configuration file to configure a Zebra DS9208 scanner for Movilitas Mobile on Web or Movilitas Desktop. The following procedure illustrates the case when the keyboard language is set to English (United States) on your computer.


Before You Begin


Make sure that the keyboard language is set to English (United States) on your computer.


Procedure


1. Go to https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/software/utilities/123scan-utility.html and download 123Scan.


2. Install the software and connect the scanner to the computer with the cable provided. When the scanner is connected, the scanner should make a beeping sound.


3. Open 123Scan and select Create new configuration file.



4. Select the My scanner is connected via USB cable option. The application automatically recognizes the scanner model and offers plug-in information. You can also check the release notes and the supported models.




5. To start the Configuration Wizard, select a plug-in.


6. On the Name and notes page, provide a configuration name and a short description for your settings.

7. Select the 4. Modify Data option in the menu on the left.


8. Select the Program complex data modifications or select a rule from your Data Formatting Library radio button.


The wizard automatically selects the Advanced radio button.



9. Click View / Edit next to ADF-Advanced Data Formatting (Scan one bar code). The wizard displays the Advanced Data Formatting page.



10. To create an ADF rule, click Insert ADF Rule.


You need to create two rules, one for Data Matrix, and one for SSCC.


11. To add a second rule, select Insert ADF rule on the top-right corner. Now the application displays two rules next to each other.



12. Provide the settings of the two rules as described below:

13. Under Rule 1, select Add action. The wizard displays the Add action window containing the Select action list and the Provide values drop-down.

14. From the Select action list, select Send Value --> Send ASCII Key.


15. Under Provide values, select the following ASCII keys one by one:

  • 60 <<>
  • 109 <m>
  • 111 <o>
  • 118 <v>
  • 62 <>>


You can add each ASCII key separately by clicking Save & Add Another. Continue until you add all the five actions above.


In the following example, we are selecting the first ASCII key, 60 <<>, and then we click Save & Add Another:



16. Add another action to Rule 1 as follows:

  1. From the Select action list, select Move To/Replace --> To All Patterns and Replace.
  2. Under Provide values, next to the Find field, select the arrow, and then select 29 <GS> special key.
  3. Under Provide values, in the Replace with field, copy and paste a space from a text editor.
  4. Click Save & Add Another.



17. Add another action to Rule 1 as follows:

  1. From the Select action list, select Skip --> To Start.
  2. Click Save & Add Another.



18. Add another action to Rule 1 as follows:

  1. From the Select action list, select Send --> All that remains.
  2. Click Save & Add Another.



19. Add another action to Rule 1 as follows:

  1. From the Select action list, select Send Value --> Send Extended Key.
  2. Under Provide values, select 13 <Enter>.
  3. Click Save.



20. Go to Rule 2 and perform steps 13 through 15, step 18, and step 19.


For the two rules, you must end up with the following set of actions, in the order specified below:

21. Select Done. The wizard displays the configuration file summary.



Note: Make sure that the USB Device Type under Cable connection settings is not changed to IBM Handheld USB or SNAPI. View Cable connection --> USB Device Type, ensure that it is set to Default (HID Keyboard Emulation), and click Done.


22. To load the configuration file to the scanner, click Load to scanner. The wizard displays the Load configuration dialog and offers compatible scanners for the configuration. 




23. Select the scanner from the list.


The wizard shows the progress of the configuration upload. If the wizard displays the message Upload complete, the configuration is loaded to the scanner.

24. Close the dialog by clicking Close.


25. Close 123Scan and wait until the scanner automatically reconnects to the device.


Note: Before closing the application, you can save the configuration to a file and you can also print the barcode of the configuration. Check Save to file and Print bar code buttons on the configuration tab, respectively. You can use the configuration barcode to configure further table scanners without opening 123Scan.


The scanner is ready for use.

Configuring Zebra DS9208 Scanners Using a Barcode


Use a barcode to configure a Zebra DS9208 scanner for Movilitas Mobile on Web or Movilitas Desktop. The following procedure illustrates the case when the keyboard language is set to English (United States) on your computer.


If you want to use Belgian (French) or German keyboard language, skip this procedure and go to Setting the Keyboard Language by Using a Barcode.


Before You Begin


Make sure that the keyboard language is set to English (United States) on your computer.


Procedure


1. Connect the scanner to the computer with the cable provided. When the scanner is connected, the scanner should make a beeping sound.


2. Scan the following barcode to configure the scanner automatically:


3. Wait until the scanner automatically reconnects to the device.


The scanner is ready for use.

Setting the Keyboard Language by Using a Configuration File


Use a configuration file to set the keyboard language of your choice for a Zebra DS9208 scanner.


Before You Begin


Make sure you have done the following:

  • Configured the scanner to work with Movilitas Mobile on Web or Movilitas Desktop using either the provided barcode or a configuration file.
  • Installed the 123Scan application.


Procedure


1. Connect the scanner to the computer with the cable provided. When the scanner is connected, the scanner should make a beeping sound.


2. Open 123Scan and select Clone/modify my connected scanner settings.



After clicking on the button, the application may display the following information message:



If you see the above message, do as follows:

  1. Click Close.
  2. On the Configuration file summary page, select View / Edit for Cable Connection.
  3. Set the USB Device Type to Default (HID Keyboard Emulation) and click Done.




3. On the Configuration file summary page, select Start configuration wizard.



4. In the left menu that appears, select 6. General. The application displays the General page.



5. Under System, for keyboard country type, select the preferred keyboard language from the drop-down.


6. Select Done. The wizard displays the configuration file summary.


Note: Make sure that the USB Device Type under Cable connection settings is not changed to IBM Handheld USB or SNAPI. View Cable connection --> USB Device Type, ensure that it is set to Default (HID Keyboard Emulation), and click Done.


7. To load the configuration file to the scanner, click Load to scanner. The wizard displays the Load configuration dialog and offers compatible scanners for the configuration.




8. Select the scanner from the list.


The wizard shows the progress of the configuration upload. If the wizard displays the message Upload complete, the configuration is loaded to the scanner.

10. Close 123Scan and wait until the scanner automatically reconnects to the device.

Setting the Keyboard Language by Using a Barcode


Use a barcode to set the keyboard language to Belgian French or German for a Zebra DS9208 scanner. The following barcodes also contain the scanner configuration so you do not need a separate barcode configuration for the device.


To set another keyboard language by using a barcode, create the barcode of the configuration by using the 123Scan application and then follow the procedure described below with the specific barcode.


Procedure


1. Connect the scanner to the computer with the cable provided. When the scanner is connected, the scanner should make a beeping sound.


2. Scan the following barcode to set the keyboard language to 1) Belgian French or 2) German automatically:


1) Belgian French

2) German




3. Wait until the scanner automatically reconnects to the device. 


4. Set the same language for your Windows system as well.


Now you can use the scanner with the selected keyboard language.
