Configuring Zebra DS9208 Scanners Using a Barcode


Use a barcode to configure a Zebra DS9208 scanner to use it with Movilitas Desktop.


Procedure


1. Scan the following barcode to configure the scanner automatically:




2. Configure the scanner to preserve the case of the scanned data irrespective of the state of the CAPS LOCK key. For more information, see the Product Reference Guide of the scanner on the manufacturer's website.


3. Open the Movilitas Desktop application to start using it with the scanner.

Configuring Zebra DS9208 Scanners Using a Configuration File


Use a configuration file to configure a Zebra DS9208 scanner to use it with Movilitas Desktop.


Procedure


1. Go to https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/software/utilities/123scan-utility.html and download 123Scan.

2. Install the software and connect your scanner to the computer with the cable provided.

3. Open 123Scan and select Create new configuration file.

4. Select the My scanner is connected via USB cable option.

5. Click on the scanner model to start the Configuration Wizard.

6. Provide a name and a description for the configuration file.

7. Select the Modify Data option in the menu on the left.

8. Select Advanced under the Program complex data modifications or select a rule from your Data Formatting Library option.

9. Open the ADF-Advanced Data Formatting (Scan one bar code) for editing.

10. In Advanced Data Formatting, select Insert ADF rule.

11. Create two rules with the following settings:

12. Under Rule 1, select Add action. The Select action list is displayed.

13. From the Select action list, choose Send Value and Send ASCII Key.

14. Select the following ASCII keys one by one:

  • <<>
  • <m>
  • <o>
  • <v>
  • <>>


15. Add another action to Rule 1 with the following details:

  • Action: select Send
  • Option: select All that remains


16. Add another action to Rule 1 with the following details:

  • Action: select Send Value
  • Option: select Send Extended Key and select the <Enter> key


17. Repeat steps 12 through 16 for Rule 2.

18. Add another action to Rule 1 with the following details:

  • Action: select Move To/Replace -> To All Patterns and Replace
  • Find: enter <GS>
  • Replace: copy and paste a space


19. Add another action to Rule 1 with the following details:

  • Action: select Skip
  • Option: select To Start


You must end up with the following set of actions for the two rules:

20. Select Done and load the configuration file to the scanner. The scanner is now ready for use with Movilitas Desktop.

Setting the Keyboard Language Using a Barcode

Use a barcode to set the keyboard language to Belgian French or German for a Zebra DS9208 scanner.


Before You Begin


Make sure you have configured the scanner to work with Movilitas Desktop using either the provided barcode or a configuration file.


Procedure


1. Connect the scanner to the desktop.

2. Scan the following barcode to set the keyboard language to 1) Belgian French or 2) German automatically:


1) Belgian French

2) German





3. Set the same language for your Windows system as well.

Setting the Keyboard Language Using a Configuration File

Use a barcode to set the keyboard language of your choice for a Zebra DS9208 scanner.


Before You Begin


Make sure you have done the following:

  • Configured the scanner to work with Movilitas Desktop using either the provided barcode or a configuration file
  • Installed the 123Scan software
  • Connected the scanner to the desktop


Procedure


1. Open 123Scan and Clone/modify my connected scanner settings.

2. Choose Start configuration wizard.

3. In the menu that appears, select General.

4. Under System, select the keyboard language from the drop-down menu for keyboard country type.

5. Save your settings by choosing Done.

6. Select Load to Scanner.

7. On the Load configuration dialog, select the scanner to load the new configuration.

8. Set the same language for your Windows system as well.


Now you can use the scanner with the selected keyboard language.
