This article provides use cases of how to configure and manage the Wholesaler FMD application.
The Wholesaler FMD application offers three modes of operation:
- Wholesaler mode
- Wholesaler and 3PL mode
- 3PL mode
Note: By default, the application works in the Wholesaler mode. You can configure the mode of operation in the Settings tab.
The workflows illustrate typical use cases for the user. The description is not exhaustive and is not meant to be exhaustive. The goal is to help the users to get an idea of how to use the application for certain activities.
In the below use cases, we assume that you have already activated the Wholesaler FMD application in Movilitas.Cloud. This is a one-time activity when you start your journey with Movilitas.Cloud. For more information, see Enabling Applications for a Tenant.
Use Cases
Wholesaler Mode
You use the Wholesaler mode if you, as the owner of the products, want to complete activities towards the National Medicines Verification System (NMVS) in the warehouse.
Before You Begin
Make sure that:
- You have assigned mobile users to your tenant (company). Mobile users can be operators of your warehouse. For more information, see Managing Users.
- You have created the required NMVS channels (Arvato, SolidSoft, NGDA). For more information, see Arvato channel, SolidSoft channel, and Germany - NGDA channel.
Optionally, you can create a dedicated repository to collect the scanned data for reports and analysis. The repository can be utilized by using the FMD Reports application. For more information on repositories, see Managing Repositories.
Procedure
1. Configure the application-level settings.
- Select Wholesaler mode.
- Optionally, set the FMD repository.
- Activate sending notification email to the administrators about the results of bulk actions.
For more information, see the Settings.
2. On the Warehouses tab, configure the warehouse where the scanning activities will be performed. You must set the country and the NMVS channel per warehouse. For more information, see Managing Warehouses.
3. Assign operators to the warehouse and set the privileges under the Operators tab. Optionally, you can limit the devices the operator can use for the scanning. For more information, see Managing Operators.
4. (Optional) Manage the orders that define scanning jobs in the warehouse under the Orders tab. You can also upload serials and submit the order to the NMVS without scanning. For more information, see Managing Orders.
Note: Operators can do single, multiple, and bulk scanning without orders.
5. As an operator, perform scanning activities in the warehouse. For more information, see Movilitas Mobile for Wholesaler FMD.
You can also integrate a 3rd party software for scanning with Movilitas.Cloud through Wholesaler API. For more information, see Wholesaler API.
6. As an administrator, monitor the bulk actions sent to NMVS under the Bulk actions tab. For more information, see Viewing Bulk Actions.

3PL Mode
You use the Third-Party Logistics (3PL) mode if you want to complete activities for a Marketing Authorization Holder (MAH).
- You can connect to a MAH that is using Movilitas.Cloud.
- You can connect to the SAP ICH or TraceLink system of the MAH by setting up a business channel and assigning it in the MAH settings.
Note: The MAH and 3PL settings are available only when you select the 3PL mode or the Wholesaler and 3PL mode.
If the MAH is not a partner in Movilitas.Cloud, make sure that you have created the business channel to connect to the MAH (SAP ICH or TraceLink channel). For more information, see Configuring and Monitoring an SAP ICH Channel.
Optionally, you can create a dedicated repository to collect the scanned data for reports and analysis. The repository can be utilized by using the FMD Reports application. For more information on repositories, Managing Repositories.
Procedure
1. Configure the application-level settings.
- Select Wholesaler mode.
- Optionally, set the FMD repository.
- Activate sending notification emails to the administrators about the results of bulk actions.
4. Configure the MAH and the FMD report settings.
- You and the MAH can be partners in Movilitas.Cloud and you, as the 3PL, report to the SAP ATTP or TraceLink system of the MAH (The channel is not set by 3PL).
- You report to the MAH over an SAP ICH or TraceLink channel and the MAH is not a partner in Movilitas.Cloud.
For more information, see Managing MAHs.
5. (Optional) Manage the orders that define scanning jobs in the warehouse under the Orders tab. You can also upload serials and submit the order to the NMVS without scanning. For more information, see Managing Orders.
Note: Operators can do single, multiple, and bulk scanning without orders.
6. As an operator, perform scanning activities in the warehouse. For more information, see Movilitas Mobile for Wholesaler FMD.
You can also integrate a 3rd party software for scanning with Movilitas.Cloud through Wholesaler API. For more information, see Wholesaler API.

Wholesaler and 3PL Mode
Wholesaler and 3PL mode enables you to fill in all possible roles. You can use the wholesaler and 3PL mode:
- If you want to complete activities for your products towards the NMVS.
- If you, as a 3PL, want to connect to MAHs to complete activities for them.
- If you, as a MAH, want to connect to 3PLs so that they can complete activities for you.
You have two options to connect to a MAH:
- You can connect to a MAH that is using Movilitas.Cloud.
- You can connect to the SAP ICH or TraceLink system of the MAH by setting up a business channel and assigning it in the MAH Settings.
You connect to a 3PL by sending a partner request. You need to set up a business channel to your SAP ATTP or TraceLink system and assign it in the 3PL settings. In this case, data is sent to the SAP ATTP or TraceLink about the activities that the 3PL completes for you in the warehouse.
Note: The MAH and 3PL settings are available only when you select the 3PL mode or the Wholesaler and 3PL mode.
If the MAH is not a partner in Movilitas.Cloud, make sure that you have created the business channel to connect to the MAH (SAP ICH or TraceLink channel). For more information, see Configuring and Monitoring an SAP ICH Channel.
If you outsource scanning activities to a 3PL, make sure that you have created the business channel to your SAP ATTP system over WebMethods or to your TraceLink system. For more information, see Configuring SAP ATTP over WebMethods Channel and Managing EPCIS Messages.
Optionally, you can create a dedicated repository to collect the scanned data for reports and analysis. The repository can be utilized by using the FMD Reports application. For more information on repositories, Managing Repositories.
