The Serialized Logistics mobile application enables users to carry out scanning and printing activities in the warehouse:
- Verify products
- Request electronic content
- Preprint SSCC labels
- Pack products
- Unpack products
- Decommission products
- Pick products
- Ship or return products
- Receive products
- Validate picking
- Pack an order
- View hierarchy
The scanning activities are reported to the applicable system through the channel configured for the warehouse or the supplier in the Admin UI (use-case dependent).
The user can perform offline scanning for verification and once the user connects to the Internet again, they can submit the scanned items for verification to the applicable system.
The user can request electronic content by scanning a GS1 2D barcode. After scanning the barcode, the user is redirected to a product website. When scanning a GS1 Data Matrix code holding the data of a specific pack, the user can also select a content type from the options offered by the application.
To ease understanding, the following sections provide examples to demonstrate the functions of the Serialized Logistics mobile application. The examples described below are not exhaustive and are not meant to be exhaustive. You may use the Serialized Logistics application in other scenarios.
Example 1 - Transfer and Reaggregation Activities
In the example below, there are internal transfers between departments of a company, and there is an external transfer to a client. On both sites, the operators can perform reaggregations.
Example 2 - Verifying Items through an External System and Requesting Product Information
In the example below, the operator wants to make sure that the scanned item is valid.
- They want to verify the item through an external track and trace system, for example, SAP ATTP.
- If there is no Internet connection in the warehouse, the operator needs to scan offline. Later, when the operator's device is connected to the Internet, they can submit the items for verification.
The operator may also need information about how to store the product in the warehouse. They request electronic content by scanning a GS1 Data Matrix code holding the pack data. After scanning, the mobile application opens the web browser and displays the product information by accessing an external website.
